Shweta Tiwari wins son’s custody, tells how husband used to “harass” her

Mumbai: Actress Shweta Tiwari has won her son Reyansh’s custody after a long court battle while, her estranged husband Abhinav Kohli has been given visitation rights with access to meet the child for two hours a week in their building premises but within the presence of family members. Relieved after getting the court order in her favour, the 40-year-old actress recalls how her ex-husband used to follow her and her son, Reyansh, and create “ruckus” wherever she went.

Last seen as a contestant in popular stunts based TV reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi 11 (Colors TV), the stunning actress in her recent quote to a leading newspaper publication said, “Hopefully, with this Court order, his untimely harassment against us will stop. Abhinav would follow me everywhere I went in the last two years, he would end up in Delhi or Pune or wherever I travelled with Reyansh for my shows and create ruckus. It was mentally exhausting for both, me and my child. He would show up everywhere only to create scene and to prove that my child is not happy with me. Even when Reyansh would stick by me, he would try and manipulate things only to prove me a bad mother. He would not stop at that and would create a scene and end up at my doorstep anytime,” she said.

She added that the court had earlier allowed Abhinav to speak with Reyansh on just video call for short periods but she allowed them longer calls. “He alleged that I kidnapped Reyansh and kept him away from him, when I have proof that in all cases, he was aware of Reyansh’s whereabouts all the time. Even during Khatron Ke Khiladi shoot, he tried to create yet another scene despite being fully aware of Reyansh’s stay,” Shweta added.

Earlier, she said that she would have preferred to bring Reyansh, his nanny, and her mother along to South Africa with her for KKK 11, but that Abhinav didn’t consent to this arrangement.

Everyone knows how the two had been fighting a gruesome custody battle from past several months now for their son Reyansh’s custody and today on October 1, the important decision has been given by the Bombay High court which is in her favour.

Meanwhile, Abhinav in his petition to the court cited about how Shweta is a busy actress and which is why she doesn’t have much time for Reyansh and speaking about this point as well, Shweta stated, “I work for my family and to give them a good lifestyle, what’s wrong in that? But he kept using that against me and I am glad that the court dismissed those allegations”.

On the other hand, Abhinav talking to the leading publication expressed his relief saying, “It is a huge relief for me as I have been fighting the custody battle for months. I haven’t met my son for 11 months, so I am elated to finally be able to see him. This is just the beginning and there’s a long way to go. This is not a victory for me, it is my son Reyaansh’s victory. He has won between Shweta and my fight. Reyaansh will get to meet his father”.

The Court in its judgement said, “There was no material, which prima facie indicates that the custody of the child with the mother was detrimental to his welfare and development. At such a tender age, a child needs the company of the mother and hence keeping him in her custody appears more natural and conducive for the development of the child”.
