Congress has won 135 seats in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. Whereas BJP has won 66 seats and JDS has won 19 seats. After getting a clear majority, the Congress has handed over the Chief Minister's chair to Siddaramaiah after a long churning.
New Delhi: After getting a clear majority in the Karnataka Assembly elections, Siddaramaiah has been given the post of Chief Minister and DK Shivakumar as Deputy CM. Today i.e. Saturday (May 20) the Congress is going to form the government. Siddaramaiah will take oath of office and secrecy as Chief Minister and DK Shivakumar as Deputy Chief Minister. Some of the MLAs joining the cabinet will also take oath of office and secrecy.
The results of the Karnataka Assembly elections came on 13 May. Congress has won 135 seats. At the same time, BJP has won 66 seats and JDS has won 19 seats. After getting a clear majority, the Congress has handed over the Chief Minister’s chair to Siddaramaiah after a long churning. Whereas, DK Shivakumar has been given the post of Deputy CM.
The swearing-in ceremony will take place at 12.30 pm at the Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru. Congress president Kharge, former presidents Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi, chief ministers of Congress-ruled states and several leaders are expected to attend the swearing-in ceremony.
Kharge has invited Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, NCP chief Sharad Pawar, former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to attend the event.
