Sidhu Moose Wala was cremated at his native village of Jawaharke in the presence of a huge police force. A large number of people from far-flung areas had gathered to pay their last respects to the popular singer.
Earlier today, his family members went to Mansa Civil Hospital to bring his body home. At the hospital, a team of five doctors did his autopsy. Sources say, according to the post-mortem investigation, over two dozen bullets were pumped into Sidhu’s body.
Moose Wala contested in the assembly polls earlier this year on the Congress ticket in Punjab. He was shot dead on Sunday evening, a day after his security was curtailed by the Mann government.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued a notice to the state government, urging it to explain the reasons for withdrawing or reducing security coverage for over 400 people, including Moose Wala.
The Delhi Police have started quizzing jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi in Tihar jail. The Canada-based gangster, Goldy Brar, who has claimed responsibility for Moose Wala’s murder, is a close aide of Bishnoi.
A key suspect, who is said to be a member of the Bishnoi gang, was detained in Dehradun yesterday in a joint operation by Uttarakhand and Punjab police. Police have detained five more people in connection with the case. All of them are being interrogated by the Punjab police.
Punjab Police chief VK Bhawra has said the killing seemed to be the result of an inter-gang rivalry. The police have registered an FIR against unknown persons in connection with the singer’s killing.
A forensic team is investigating the singer’s car at Mansa Police Station. Both the front and rear bumpers of the car have multiple bullet marks. This indicates the car was intercepted from all sides.
