Six people killed and 13 injured in a fire at Andhra pharma plant

A blast at Porus Laboratories turned into a fire in Andhra Pradesh’s Eluru district at around 11:30 pm on Wednesday. In this incident, six people died and 13 others were injured. The wounded were taken to nearby hospitals.

Authorities are trying to determine the cause of the fire. It could take place due to a reactor explosion or a short circuit. At least 30 people were on duty at the time of the accident in the block. The fire brigade and police officials rushed to the spot immediately and doused the fire in two hours.

Injured shifted to hospitals

Officials also said that the injured have been shifted to a hospital in Vijayawada for better treatment. According to district Superintendent of Police (SP), Rahul Dev Sharma, details regarding the possible causes of the accident have been gathered.

Four people belonged to Bihar among the six deaths. The dead were identified as Udurupathi Krishnaiah, B Kiran Kumar, Kaaru Ravi Das, Manoj Kumar, Suvaas Ravi Das, and Habdas Ravi Das.

Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy has expressed grief over the incident and announced a 25 lakh compensation for the family members of the dead.

He also declared a 5 lakh compensation for each critically injured person and a 2 lakh compensation for those who suffered minor injuries. Officials have been instructed to monitor the condition of those injured.

The Superintendent of Police and the District Collector have been directed to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.

CM orders an investigation

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has expressed profound shock over the fire at the Akkireddygudem Porous factory in Eluru district.

The CM has directed the district collector and the SP to investigate the cause of the fire. He also asked officials to provide full medical facilities to the injured.
