Dar es Salaam: On the way to an airport in Tanzania on Sunday morning, a small passenger plane crashed into Lake Victoria.
The number of passengers on board the aircraft as it flew toward Bukoba Airport was not immediately known. The flight originated in the seaside city of Dar es Salaam, according to Precision Air, a Tanzanian airline.
William Mwampaghale, the police chief for Kagera Province, told journalists, “We have been able to save quite a number of individuals.”
“Problems and adverse weather were encountered by the aircraft when it was around 100 metres (328 feet) in the air. The jet crashed into the ocean while it was raining. “Everything is under control,” he assured.
The exact report of casualties has not been revealed by the Tanzanian authority. The rescue team has been pressed into service, and they are working on war footing to save the lives of as many people as possible who are trapped inside the plane.
Mwampaghale said rescue efforts continued.
