Soldier killed in mob attack over argument in Tamil Nadu, 9 including DMK councillor arrested

Chennai: In Tamil Nadu’s Krishnagiri, an army jawan died after being attacked by a mob. It is being told that the mob led by the DMK corporator attacked the army personnel. There was an argument between them about washing clothes on the water tank. Police is looking for a DMK corporator in this case.

According to the report, the matter is of 8 February. Prabhu, 29, from Pochampally was a soldier in the army and has also served in Jammu and Kashmir. He had an argument with a 50-year-old DMK corporator over washing clothes at a water tank. Enraged by this incident, the councilor along with his supporters allegedly attacked Prabhu the same night.

AIADMK spokesperson Kovai Sathyan said the killing of the soldier shows that whenever the DMK is in power, law and order is seriously compromised. It has gone to the extent of killing an army officer. Police is being used to wreak vengeance on AIADMK and other opponents.

9 People including corporator’s son arrested

Based on Prabhu’s complaint, the Krishnagiri police arrested nine people, including Chinnasamy’s son Rajapandi, police said. The jawan, who was seriously injured in the attack, died in a private hospital on Tuesday. Police is looking for DMK councilor Chinnasamy, who is absconding since the day of the attack.

BJP state Chief Annamalai said, “There is no safety for an army person in his own hometown. People are watching the indifferent Chief Minister who holds the Home portfolio.”
