According to sources, Sonia Gandhi reportedly informed Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on Monday that she wouldn’t recommend anyone’s name for the position of Congress president and that she would instead act impartially.
As per sources, Shashi Tharoor received approval from Sonia Gandhi to contest for the Congress president post, which is scheduled to be held on October 17, during their meeting on Monday at Janpath Road.
However, sources close to the Thiruvananthapuram MP informed the media that he had not gone to get Sonia Gandhi’s approval or to ask permission to contest for office. As per reports, Shashi Tharoor has appreciated the Congress president’s vision of a free and fair election.
