Haryana: Tension prevailed in Sandal Kalan village of Sonipat district on Sunday after a mob of around 20 people allegedly vandalized a mosque and attacked people offering prayers there. The attackers are also said to be residents of the same village. 15-20 armed men are said to have attacked people offering Ramzan prayers at a small mosque built by the community in the village. Pictures have emerged of the attackers roaming the streets of the village with sticks in their hands.
The reason behind the incident is not yet clear. An FIR has been registered against 19 people in the matter and the police have detained 16 people in the matter. At least nine people have been injured in the incident, including Istaq Ali, Alamir, Sabir Ali, Farayad, Ansar Ali, Zulekha, Ali Tab, Nargis and Zarina. The injured have been admitted to Sonipat Civil Hospital for treatment. Sonipat is a major industrial area and the police is probing the matter seriously. Police was deployed in the village as soon as the incident was reported.

Sonipat Badi Industrial Area police station has registered a case on the complaint of the Imam of the mosque. 19 youths from village Sandal Kalan have been charged. After which the police have detained 16 youths and they are being interrogated. Sonipat Police Commissioner B Satish Balan visited the village and the crime scene has been inspected.
B Satish Balan said that mischievous elements will not be spared under any circumstances. Sonipat police is investigating the matter seriously.
