Mumbai: The whole film fraternity went into a huge shock, as on Thursday morning the news of renowned film producer Vijay Gilani demise broke the internet. The man behind successful movies like Salman Khan’s ‘Veer’ (2010) and ‘Sooryavanshi’ (1992), Vijay breathed his last on Wednesday night. He was in his late 50s.
As per the media reports, Vijay was battling cancer and had travelled to the UK a couple of days ago, where he was receiving treatment for blood cancer at a local hospital for past three months.
The news of his demise was confirmed by Ramesh Taurani, who took to his Instagram and wrote, “Very unfortunate and sadding to know our dear friend Vijay Gallani passed away.. May his soul rest in peace.. deepest condolences to his family and friends.. Shanti.”

For the unversed, Vijay Gilani is a renowned Bollywood producer, who has given popular movies like, Salman Khan’s 1992 release horror drama ‘Suryavanshi’ that also featured Amrita Singh and Sheeba in lead roles, ‘Achanak’ (1998) starring Govinda, Manisha Koirala, Farah Naaz, Paresh Rawal. He also collaborated with Akshay Kumar for his 2001 release ‘Ajnabi’ which also features Kareena Kapoor, Bipasha Basu and Bobby Deol. Vijay Gilani also bankrolled Salman’s 2010 release ‘Veer’.
Vijay Gilani’s last production is said to be Vidyut Kammwal, Shruti Haasan and Zakir Hussain starrer action thriller ‘The Power’, which was helmed by Mahesh Manjrekar. The movie had released on the OTT platform earlier this year.
