Local officials say the stampede occurred during a packed Halloween party in the South Korean capital, Seoul. More than one lakh people attended this Halloween party. The casualties are expected to increase. A stampede broke out after a huge crowd gathered in the Central District of the South Korean capital to celebrate Halloween. Let us tell you that this is being said to be the biggest gathering in the country after the easing of COVID-19 restrictions. The authorities received at least 81 calls complaining of difficulty in breathing.

President Yoon Suk-yeol issued a statement through a spokesperson just after the first reports: “All related ministries and agencies, led by the minister of public administration and security, should make every effort to promptly provide aid to the victims.”

US President Joe Biden said in a tweet, “Jill and I send our deepest condolences to the families who lost loved ones in Seoul. We grieve with the people of the Republic of Korea and send our best wishes for a quick recovery to all those who were injured,” he wrote, referring to his wife, first lady Jill Biden. “The Alliance between our two countries has never been more vibrant or more vital – and the ties between our people are stronger than ever. The United States stands with the Republic of Korea during this tragic time,” he added.

Choin of Seoul’s Yongsen Fire Department, Choi Son-Bium said that the number of dead is expected to grow because many of the injured are being given serious. He said that 74 dead bodies have been taken to the hospital while 46 bodies have been kept on the streets. He told that he is being kept in the nearby gym so that he could be identified.

According to South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency, fire brigade officials told that a huge crowd gathered at the Halloween party. This party was organized in Itawan, Seoul. There was a stampede due to the large crowd. At least 149 people died in this stampede. Cardiac arrest is said to be the cause of most of the deaths.

The people who fell unconscious in the party were given CPR. The emergency department received calls from more than 80 people, in which it was told that people were having trouble breathing.
