Rampur: On Wednesday, A Rampur court handed down a historic order and sentenced Azam Khan, his wife Tanjim Fatima and son Abdullah Azam to seven years of jail in connection with a fake birth certificate case. According to the information received, all three will be sent to jail today directly from the court.
The matter pertains to the issuance of Abdullah Azam Khan’s birth certificate twice. The court after hearing both the parties in the same case pronounced its verdict and convicted Azam Khan, his wife Tanjima and daughter Abdullah. Due to the high profile case, the police were on strict guard in the court today.
BJP MLA Akash Saxena filed an FIR against Azam Khan’s wife and son Abdullah in Ganj police station. It alleged that Abdullah Azam Khan is accused of obtaining passports and foreign tours on the basis of the first birth certificate and using the second certificate for government-related purposes. Both the certificates were issued fraudulently and as part of a pre-planned conspiracy.
The first birth certificate issued by Rampur Municipality on 28 June 2012 showed Rampur as the birthplace of Abdullah Azam Khan. The second birth certificate issued in January 2015 showed Lucknow as his birthplace. A case of two birth certificates was filed against Azam Khan’s family by BJP MLA Akash Saxena. A case was lodged against Abdullah Azam Khan and his parents under sections 420, 467, 468 and 471.
