New Delhi: Spanish President Pedro Sanchez said that he has tested positive for coronavirus and will not attend the G20 summit in New Delhi.
Sanchez said on X (formerly Twitter) that he was feeling “fine” but would not be able to travel to India. He further added that Spain will be represented at the leaders’ summit by Acting First Vice President Nadia Calvino and Foreign Minister José Manuel Alberes.
Sanchez is the third world leader to withdraw from the G20 summit. Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin are the other two leaders who will not come to Delhi.
The G20 summit will be held in the national capital on September 9 and 10.
Leaders of all G20 countries and nine other states (Bangladesh, Egypt, Mauritius, Netherlands, Nigeria, Oman, Singapore, Spain and the United Arab Emirates) have been invited to participate.
