SpiceJet loses passengers’ faith after a series of safety lapses in mid-air

New Delhi: Several snags in the SpiceJet aircraft in the last fortnight have created a kind of fear in the minds of passengers regarding safety. Several passengers have decided to avoid this aircraft after numerous mid-air safety failures.

The DGCA served a show-cause notice to insolvent aircraft for its failure to provide safety to the passengers. Therefore, travellers don’t like to take risks, and most of them have decided to avoid SpiceJet flights due to their continued lapses in providing secure journeys.

A survey was conducted by LocalCircles and questioned over 21,000 fliers, which showed 44 percent of people have clearly made it clear not to use SpiceJet for safety reasons. 21% who don’t like to board on Air India Ltd. and IndiGo and 18% for Go First. Meanwhile, 37 percent said they are not in the mood to avoid any particular airline.

There is a significant setback for SpiceJet aircraft carriers as a result of the loss of a large number of passengers in recent weeks due to arising technical glitches in mid-air. The SpiceJet Ltd has to surrender its second-highest market share to Go First, which has hit severely on the aircraft’s financial health.

SpiceJet has already lost money for the last three fiscal years, and its market share have plunged 43 percent in 2022.

The aviation regulator on Wednesday said SpiceJet has failed to provide safe and reliable services in recent times. Three weeks’ time has been given to the airline to give an explanation why no action was taken.
