Mumbai: Delhi Capitals have broken the jinx of winning two matches in a row in this season of IPL, defeating Punjab Kings in yesterday’s encounter. With this victory, DC have moved to fourth place, pushing RCB to fifth in the points table. DC are still in contention to reach the playoffs despite taking the last breath.

Mitch Marsh and Shardu Thakur scripted the victory lyrics for their team. Shardul Thakur was adjudged player of the match for his remarkable bowling effort, taking 4 for 36. DC need to win their last match, then wait for the mathematical calculations for their movement to the playoff stage.

MI nothing to lose against SRH

The IPL matches are moving fast. The Mumabi Indians (MI) are set to take on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) tonight at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. MI have nothing to lose, whereas SRH must do something extraordinary to raise their level of play and keep everything on track for a playoff berth.Five consecutive losses have almost diminished the hope of SRH. The franchise tasted its last victory more than three weeks ago.

From here, SRH need to punch above their weight. They have limited resources, and the skipper of the team, Kane Williamson, is struggling with his form. Things are looking dicey for the SRH in this situation.

SRH have an opportunity tonight against MI to break the losing streak, but they have failed to win even a single match on the Wankhede ground this season.

Kane Williamson’s team did well in the bowling department earlier, which was instrumental in the team’s five wins. They kept their opponents to less than 175. On the other hand, the SRH bowlers conceded more than that in the five losing encounters. In the second phase of the tournament, the spin unit of SRH have proved the thin line.

Chasing is a better option for the captain. In this season’s IPL, the chasing team has a far better record at the Wankhede Stadium. Six of the last eight matches on the Wankhede track were won by the team batting second. The temperature is expected to stay around 30 degrees Celsius, with humidity reaching up to 79%.

Important facts

MI skipper Rohit Sharma has not scored 30+ in two consecutive innings so far in this calendar year in T20s and is not able to score a 50+ score either.

SRH don’t believe much in spin attacks. Their spinners have bowled the fewest overs in this season of the IPL.

MI and SRH are two of only three teams that have used the same opening pair throughout the season.

MI will step down on the ground just to complete the formality, but SRH have a slender hope, so Williamson’s team has to go all out to keep their hope alive. An absorbing battle is on the cards in tonight’s encounter.
