Sri Lanka: A massive 6.2 magnitude earthquake jolts Colombo, no casualties reported

Colombo: On Tuesday, An earthquake of magnitude 6.2 hits Sri Lanka. According to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), The earthquake had a depth of 10 Km and was located 1326km SE of Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Colombo: On Tuesday, An earthquake of magnitude 6.2 hits Sri Lanka. According to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), The earthquake had a depth of 10 Km and was located 1326km SE of Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The NCS said that the tremors were felt at around 12:31 IST and the epicentre was over 1300 km from the national capital, Colombo. However, there were no information about any injury or casualties has been reported so far.

The NCS said on social media X,”Earthquake of Magnitude:6.2, Occurred on 14-11-2023, 12:31:10 IST, Lat: -2.96 & Long: 86.54, Depth: 10 Km, Location: 1326km SE of Colombo, Sri Lanka.”

Local people came out of their houses due to the fear of the earthquake in Colombo. The Geological Survey and Mines Bureau of Sri Lanka said that the earthquake posed no danger to the island nation. The Sri Lankan authorities are currently assessing the impact of the seismic activity.
