During the meeting, Divisional Commissioner said that all the intoxicants cause great harm to the body. People who abuse drugs also make many claims for their addiction. Drugs used for addiction cause mental and serious physical diseases. He said that people should be made aware about the ill effects of drugs and should stay away from the bad habit of drugs. Consuming drugs is playing with life.

The Divisional Commissioner directed the concerned officials that display of tobacco and other tobacco products in public places is not permissible under the provisions of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA). He said that wherever tobacco products are being sold by displaying them in the form of skirts in public places, main intersections and roads, in kiosks and shops, it should be stopped immediately and action should be taken against notice and fine. While giving instructions to MD City Transport, the Divisional Commissioner said that the ban on tobacco control should be widely publicized through stickers and slogans on buses. Action should be taken against those displaying/selling other tobacco products within 100 meters of educational institutions.

After this, the Divisional Commissioner gave instructions to the concerned that a campaign should be run on a large scale against and to prevent single use plastic. It should be ensured that heavy fines are issued by issuing notices against shops and carts where polythene was found. Identify the wholesalers of single use plastic and take action to seize the polythene available at their warehouse. Awareness campaign should be conducted to not use single use plastic.
