Students tie mathematics teacher, school clerk to a tree with rope for giving poor marks in practical examination

In a bizarre incident, a mathematics teacher and a member of the school staff were tied to the base of a tree with a rope and left scarred by students in Dumka, Jharkhand.

Dumka: Teachers have great respect in society. They are considered king-makers. But in the digital age, they have lost their influence. Students don’t respect them. Teachers are also responsible for decreasing their respect. They are involved in corrupt practices, never teach wholeheartedly and so on.

In a bizarre incident, a mathematics teacher and a member of the school staff were tied to the base of a tree with a rope and left scarred by students of a Scheduled Tribe Residential School for giving poor marks during a practical examination in Jharkhand’s Dumka.

The event happened on Monday at a public school in the district’s Gopikandar police station location. 

Suman Kumar, the teacher, and Soneram Chaure, the clerk, were both identified. A group of students beat both of them for giving poor marks in the practical exam. Angry students also broke the chairs as well.

After receiving information about the incident, Anant Jha, the block development officer (BDO) of Gopikandar, and Nityanand Bhokta, the in-charge of the Gopikandar police station, arrived at the school to investigate the event.

Meanwhile, the students have blamed teachers for deliberately giving them poor marks. Therefore, 11 students failed in class 9 on a test on which a total of 36 students appeared.

When the students requested to see their practical papers to know their mistakes, the principal refused to show them their papers. They then contacted the clerk, and the students got the same answer: No, which made them angry. After that, this shameful incident took place.
