In a recent development, it has been revealed that the individuals accused of shooting Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi in Jaipur were found staying under false identities at a hotel in Chandigarh. Delhi Police disclosed on Sunday that the alleged culprits, Rohit Rathore of Jaipur and Nitin Fauji of Haryana’s Mahendragarh, had concocted a plan to escape the country, having been promised Rs 50,000 each for Gogamedi’s murder.

The duo was apprehended by joint teams from Delhi and Rajasthan police at Hotel Kamal Palace in Chandigarh on Saturday night, accompanied by their associate Udham Singh, who provided logistical support to help them evade arrest.

Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi murder case, it has been disclosed that the individuals responsible for shooting the Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena chief in Jaipur were found residing under fake ID at a Chandigarh hotel, according to the Delhi Police’s recent findings. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Amit Goel stated, “The trio has been taken to Jaipur by Rajasthan police for further interrogation,” highlighting that the recovery of the weapons used in the crime is still pending.

According to Special Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav, the Delhi Police had been tracking the shooters immediately after the incident on December 5. Following the murder, the attackers fled to Didwana, took a bus to Delhi, and then traveled to Dharuhera by autorickshaw before reaching Rewari railway station. CCTV footage from Hisar railway station captured the duo leaving the station, with Rathore wearing distinctive attire.

Upon reaching Chandigarh, Rathore and Fauji sought refuge with Udham Singh, a friend of Fauji from their time in Indian Army training four years ago. Singh facilitated their escape to Manali in Himachal Pradesh, after which they returned to Chandigarh on December 9.

Using forged Aadhar cards, the trio booked a room at Hotel Kamal Palace under the names Devender, Jaiveer, and Sukhbir. Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of Delhi Police Crime Branch and Rajasthan police apprehended them at the hotel around 8.30 pm.

Fauji was taken to Jaipur by Rajasthan Police, while Delhi Police brought Rathore and Singh to Delhi before transporting them to Jaipur the following morning. Fauji had a history of criminal involvement in Haryana, having been previously implicated in a kidnapping case and an attack on a police officer. Rathore, too, had a criminal record and had spent time in jail.

Delhi Police officials suspect Rathore’s connection with Virender Charan, allegedly involved in planning Gogamedi’s murder at the behest of foreign-based gangster Rohit Godara. Godara, associated with the Lawrence-Goldy Brar gang, claimed responsibility for Gogamedi’s murder in a Facebook post.

Sources indicate that Rathore and Fauji were promised Rs 50,000 each for the murder and were instructed to remain underground until they received the promised passports and visas. The police revealed that their escape plan included heading towards Goa and further south in India from Chandigarh. Fauji, a native of Mahendragarh, had not returned to the Indian Army after his leave and had become involved in criminal activities in Haryana.
