New Delhi: The Supreme Court will hear on Friday the bail pleas of Aam Aadmi Party leader and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in the excise policy scam and related money laundering case. A bench of Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Bela M Trivedi will hear their petitions, according to the list uploaded on the apex court’s website.
Sisodia had filed his bail petitions in the High Court, but after not getting bail from there, moved the apex court. Senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi, appearing for Sisodia, urged the court to hold the hearing on the ground that Sisodia’s wife was seriously ill.
During his tenure as the Deputy CM of Delhi, he held several portfolios including the Excise Department. He was arrested by the CBI on February 26 for his alleged role in the scam and has been in custody since then. The ED arrested him on March 9 in the money laundering case related to the CBI FIR after interrogating him in Tihar Jail.
