Mumbai: Late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s sea-facing apartment in Bandra has been put up for rent and the real estate firm handling the property has decided to lease it out at ₹4 lakh per month. The firm handling the property also revealed how much the actor was paying, per month, to live there.
The rising Bollywood star, SSR, died on June 14 last year, in what the Mumbai Police initially ruled a suicide. The case was later handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation, with the Enforcement Directorate and the Narcotics Control Bureau investigating the financial and the drugs-related angles in the case.
“The apartment has been put up for lease but has yet to get a tenant,” a leading daily quoted a ‘celebrity broker’ saying. The broker further said, “Because of the pandemic, the property hasn’t received that many enquiries. The few interested buyers who have showed up have always enquired about Sushant Singh Rajput.”
It has been learnt that Sushant had leased the apartment for ₹4.5 lakh per month in December 2019. His deal ran through till December 2022. He was living there with roommates and his alleged girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty.
“It is a beautiful sea view apartment and is ideal for creative minds and a good home for those who migrate to Mumbai for work. Once the pandemic ends and the world opens up to India again, we’re expecting renewed interest from expats and the corporate world, too. This house attracts people who like vibrations and the scenic view,” the broker added.
The celebrity broker further noted that the owners aren’t concerned about the property’s prospects and are sure that once the Coronavirus pandemic settles down, it’ll find new tenants, but admitted that some people are ‘put off’ by its history.
The last actor was so fond of this house that he had revealed in an episode of ‘Where the Heart is’ how he was first shown the pictures of the house when he was shooting for a film in Budapest and that he loved the place so much that he decided to move in. “I was really, really waiting to get here to experience this house,” he had said .
