IED found at Delhi’s Ghazipur Flower Market, bomb disposal squad on spot

New Delhi: Delhi Police has recovered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) from an unclaimed bag at Ghazipur Flower Market in East Delhi. After getting the suspicious bag, the police and the bomb disposal squad rushed to the market.

The first scene from the market in East Delhi where the bomb was found showed the special NSG team recovering the IED. The agencies also shared a picture of a bag full of IEDs found at Ghazipur Flower Market in East Delhi.

“A case is being registered in the Delhi Police Special Cell under provisions of the Explosive Act,” Delhi Police later said. According to a report by news agency IANS, a call was received by the Delhi Fire Department at around 10.20 am regarding an unattended bag in the Ghazipur flower market. Immediately after the call, two fire engines, a bomb disposal squad, and Delhi Disaster Management Authority officials reached the spot.

Officials told sources that the suspicious bag found in Ghazipur Sabzi Mandi was taken to open ground and was buried eight feet underground in a pit.

The area has been completely cordoned off by the NSG team. According to sources, the IED was blasted in the open ground and is now diffused through a controlled explosion. An Official statement is awaited from Delhi police.
