In the first week of October itself, it was clear that Jasprit Bumrah would not be a part of the T20 World Cup due to back pain. Mohammed Shami’s name was leading the race to replace Bumrah. But Mohammed Shami’s match fitness was in question. Actually, Shami was found to be Kovid positive before the T20 series against Australia. After this, Shami had to work on his fitness at the National Cricket Academy and he got permission to go to Australia two days ago.
Final list sent to ICC
BCCI has also made two changes in its reserve players list. Apart from being included in the main team of Mohammed Shami, Deepak Chahar could not go to Australia due to injury.
