Sydney: Former Australian batter Michael Bevan, a renowned name in one-day cricket, has chosen three favourites for the forthcoming T-20 World Cup scheduled to be held in Australia. The action-packed tournament will get under way on October 16. India, England, and Australia are the top three teams that have been picked by Bevan to win the coveted tournament. The ICC Showpiece is going to be more competitive as most teams are peaking at the last moment.
Michael Bevan added that Australia is capable of winning the back-to-back T-20 World Cups because the team has home advantage as well. Finch’s leading side was not among the favourites in the last World Cup held in the UAE. Ultimately, Australia emerged as a world champion for the first time in the shortest format of the game.
England is looking a formidable side. The team is fresh after the 4-3 T20I series victory against Pakistan on their home soil. Despite the absence of several key players, including their captain Jos Buttler, England played remarkably well to overpower Pakistan in a close series.
India is the hot favourite to win their second T20 World Cup as Rohit Sharma’s side defeated world champions Australia and South Africa in the recently concluded T20 series on home soil. The men in blue have been playing absolutely perfect cricket at the moment except in the Asia Cup 2022, where India failed to reach the finals.
“I reckon I would have to say India, England, and Australia. India and England are the pick of the teams. “But Australia can turn the tables because the team has some super talented players who can fetch the second consecutive World Cup,” Bevan said in Sydney.
