The middle-order batter achieved the feat during a T20 World Cup 2022 Super 12 match against Zimbabwe at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday. Suryakumar’s strike rate of over 186 is staggering, considering his consistency in the T20I format in 2022 as he has hit a hundred and 9 fifties. The Mumbai Indians star took his tally in T20 World Cup 2022 to 225 runs in 5 matches, which includes 3 fifties.

Suryakumar recently overtook Mohammad Rizwan of Pakistan as the Number 1 batsman in T20I rankings of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Suryakumar Yadav is also only the second player in T20 history to make 1,000 calendar runs in a year. Rizwan is the other who achieved it last year in 2021, going on to make a record 1,326 runs.
