Tamil Nadu: Another student dies in IIT Madras, Chennai police suspect suicide

Tamil Nadu IIT Student Suicide: A BTech second year student at IIT Madras has allegedly committed suicide. At present, the police has sent the dead body for postmortem.

Tamil Nadu: Another student dies in IIT Madras, Chennai police suspect suicide

Chennai: An engineering student in Tamil Nadu has been found dead in the hostel room. He was a student of B.Tech second year in IIT Madras. The police suspect that the student has committed suicide. At present, the police have taken the dead body in their possession and sent it for postmortem and are investigating further.

According to sources, the police have said on the matter that this student was a resident of Maharashtra and was doing chemical engineering from IIT Madras. If the police confirms the suicide of this student after the postmortem, then this will be the fourth case of student suicide in IIT Madras this year.

PhD student committed suicide last month

Earlier on April 1, news had come that on March 31, the body of a 32-year-old student named Sachin Kumar Jain, who was doing PhD from IIT Madras, was found hanging. Before committing suicide, this student had also put a status on his WhatsApp in which he had written that I am sorry, not good enough. Sachin Jain was a resident of West Bengal and was living in a rented flat. His body was found hanging in the dining hall.

Earlier on March 14, another engineering student of the same institute had committed suicide. His name was Pushpak and he was a resident of Andhra Pradesh. He was a student of B.Tech third year here. Earlier in the month of February, two other students tried to commit suicide in which one died. Of these, one student committed suicide by hanging and the other student had consumed poison pills. The second student who had taken the pills was saved by being admitted to the hospital on time.
