Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has been quarantined after testing COVID positive. He was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai on Thursday.
In a tweet, Mr Stalin said, “Today, I experienced mild fatigue. When tested, the result was positive for COVID-19. As a result, I’ve isolated myself. ” He added, “Let’s all wear masks, get vaccinated, and stay safe.”
In the last few days, Mr Stalin has not worn a mask in photographs the government has shared. On the 8th and 9th of this month, the Tamil Nadu CM attended a few government meetings in Tiruvannamalai district without using his mask, despite the presence of a huge gathering.
He was also present at a wedding ceremony and met a group of people, including political leaders.
Today, the Chief Minister went to inspect storm water drains work in Chengalpattu district and other arrangements and preparations regarding the forthcoming World Chess Olympiad without wearing a mask.
The coronavirus has been spreading its legs in Tamil Nadu at a rapid speed. Yesterday, the state recorded 2,448 cases.
Despite the announcement by the state government to impose a fine of Rs 200 for the non-wearing of a mask covering the mouth and nose and Rs 500 for not maintaining physical distance. Unfortunately, political leaders largely violate it because they make rules for others but don’t follow them.
On Monday, during the key opposition AIADMK’s general council meeting, several leaders were present in the meeting without wearing masks, including the party’s new boss, former Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanisami, were present without masks.
