Tamilnadu: Bad news has emerged from Tamil Nadu. A post graduate engineering student at the IIT Madras was found dead in his hostel room on Tuesday.The local police officer said that on the basis of information received from the institute, the police reached the spot and removed the body.

Tamilnadu: Bad news has emerged from Tamil Nadu. A post graduate engineering student at the IIT Madras was found dead in his hostel room on Tuesday.The local police officer said that on the basis of information received from the institute, the police reached the spot and removed the body.

As per preliminary information, The 22-year-old student from Maharashtra, pursuing M.S. In electrical engineering at the institute was found hanging in his hostel room on the campus of IIT (M). According to the information, the student was said to be under stress for the last few days. The Kotturpuram police is probing the matter.

The police are yet to ascertain the cause behind his death. A hand-written note has been recovered from him but the police are yet to decipher its content. IIT Madras, in a statement, said it is “constantly evaluating support systems in place”.

“The institute endeavours and assures to improve and sustain the well-being of students, scholars and faculty on campus while constantly evaluating support systems in place,” it said.

This is the second IIT student suicide incident in past few days. On Sunday, an IIT Bombay student also committed suicide. The first-year student jumped off to death from the eighth floor. As per the police, the incident took place at around 1 pm on Sunday.

No suicide note was recovered and an accidental death case has been registered. The investigation is ongoing and statements of the boy’s roommates are being recorded by the police.
