The rain is not taking its name in Chennai and its surrounding districts. Due to the rain till the night, the entire roads were flooded. Traffic has come to a complete standstill due to waterlogging. Due to the rain, the life of the people has come to a standstill and the work has also come to a complete standstill.
Schools and colleges closed
Schools have also been closed in Chennai and six other districts namely Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur and Chengalpet following heavy rains. Greater Chennai Corporation officials inspected several areas, including subways like Ganeshapuram. Flood surveillance cameras have also been installed in the flood-hit areas.
Chief Minister Stalin will hold a meeting
Barricades have been put up in many parts of the roads due to the Chennai Metrorail Phase-II project. Chief Minister MK Stalin will preside over a high level meeting at the state secretariat today. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had earlier issued a rain alert in Tamil Nadu till November 5, with a yellow alert till November 4. Some districts like Tiruppattur and Vellore are on Orange Alert today.
Heavy rain warning in five states
According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rains in 5 states including Tamil Nadu, Kerala on 1 November 2022. School colleges have been closed in many districts of Tamil Nadu in view of the heavy rains. Orange alert has been issued in the state. The weather has issued an alert of heavy rain in 5 states today.

According to the Meteorological Department, many parts of the country including Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Puducherry, Karaikal are receiving rain from North-East Monsoon. Rain is forecast in these states for the next three days. MID has forecast rain for today at many places including Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Andaman, Nicobar, Yanam, Kerala and Mahe. With this, there is a possibility of rain in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland today.
