New Delhi: The T20 World Cup has reached a very interesting stage. No team has yet cemented its place in the semifinals. One thing is clear: consistency is missing from all sides. One day they performed like a champion, but on the next outing they failed to maintain the momentum. So far, South Africa is looking like the most consistent side. But this team has the tag of choker. Which may happen again in this World Cup?

As evidenced by their loss to South Africa, Indian players are also sailing in the same boat. The poor batting display disheartened the crazy cricket fans. Hopefully, India will be back on track against Bangladesh in the upcoming match to begin later today.

England defeated New Zealand quite easily and took one step forward towards their semifinal berth. It was a do or die affair for the Englishmen against the Kiwis, but they fought hard and, in the end, surpassed the blackcaps by 20 runs. This victory is another twist in the tale. The defeat against Ireland was a big blow for the English side. Several experts had started predicting that the Jos Buttler-led side had lost the momentum and that the three lions were likely to be eliminated early in the tournament.

In their two previous matches, New Zealand outclassed Australia and Sri Lanka, the two established sides, in all departments of the game. It seems the 50-over World Cup final is still hovering in the minds of blackcaps. The performance of the Kiwis was not clinical and the team was missing the punch.

Buttler deserves credit for managing his troops wisely and never allowing an in-form side like the Kiwis to dominate at any point during the match. Overall, England’s performance against the Kiwis is an alarming bell for the other teams to remain cautious. This team is replete with several fine all-rounders who have the ability to change the complexion of the match at any moment.

It is not wrong to say that England is another hot favourite side like Australia, India, and New Zealand who can change the calculation and swing the pendulum in their favour and become the T20 champion for a second time.
