An Indian-origin software engineer from the US was arrested for attempting to open the door of an Air France flight from Paris to Bengaluru, police said on Friday.
Bangalore : There was a stir in an Air France flight coming from Paris to Bangalore. A 29-year-old data engineer from the US was arrested for trying to open an emergency door on an airplane that was flying from Paris to Bangalore. The Bengaluru police arrested a man for trying to open the emergency door of an airplane that had taken off on the intervening night of July 15-16.
The accused has been identified as Venkat Mohit Pathipati, a native of Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh. He was arrested on 16 July. Venkat Mohit works as a Data Engineer in a reputed American grocery company. He was on his way back to Bengaluru to meet his aunt who lives in Nagawara, the eastern part of Bengaluru city.
Police registered a case under these sections
According to a report, an Air France employee lodged a complaint with the police at Kempegowda International Airport regarding the incident. After that the police registered a case against Venkat Mohit under Aircraft Rules-1937 and IPC 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others). However, he was later released on bail from the police station.
The accused was probing the closing and opening of the door
According to Mohit, he has done his Masters in Business Analytics and Information Systems from an International University and he works in an American company. When Mohit was asked why he tried to open the emergency door, he told that he was only checking the opening and closing of the door. According to sources, other passengers of the plane got scared due to this act of Mohit. After that, as soon as the plane landed in Bangalore, the air crew informed the police. After that the police arrested him.
