Telangana: In a significant narcotics operation, the police in Bhadradri Kothagudem district seized a total of 400 kg of ganja and apprehended eight individuals from Haryana. The accused were allegedly transporting the illegal substance from Odisha’s Malkangiri district to Hyderabad. The seized ganja, valued at over Rs one crore in the grey market, had been procured by the individuals in Odisha and was intended for distribution in Hyderabad.

Narcotics Bust Unveiled during Vehicle Check


The police discovered the illicit cargo during a routine vehicle check in Bhadrachalam of the district. The ganja was cleverly concealed in plastic trays and doormats inside a private bus used for transportation. The eight suspects, hailing from Haryana, were promptly arrested.

Details of the Seized Substance


Bhadradri Kothagudem District Superintendent of Police, B Rohith Raju, revealed that the seized ganja, valued at over Rs one crore, was destined for the grey market. The accused had acquired the contraband in Odisha and were en route to Hyderabad for its distribution.

Legal Action and Ongoing Investigation


A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act in connection with the illicit transportation of ganja. The authorities are actively conducting further investigations to unravel the entire network involved in the illegal trade of narcotics.
