Telangana transgender suspected of being child kidnapper beaten; dies of serious injuries

Hyderabad: In a shocking incident in Nizamabad, a village in Hyderabad, a tragic incident occurred where an Indian transgender was mistakenly beaten to death by the villagers. The villagers had heard rumors of a kidnapper in the area and mistakenly identified the youth as the culprit. The incident took place on Monday in Nizamabad district.

The victim, Raju (50), was a beggar and belonged to the third gender as per official records. He was known for his devotion to Mother Durga and would often worship the Goddess while wearing a saree. On that fateful morning, Raju left his home at 5:30 am to perform puja at the Bhimarai temple in town.

Sadly, the villagers mistook Raju for a kidnapper because of his attire. They swiftly confronted him and began interrogating him aggressively without giving him a chance to explain that he was just a herdsman. Ignoring his pleas, they brutally beat him with sticks until he lost consciousness. The incident unfolded when rumours spread about the kidnapping of children in the area. Angry locals then beat up Raju before the police intervened.

Raju was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries, police said.

The Nizamabad Commissioner of Police, Kalmeshwar, has taken the incident seriously. A case was lodged against four people in connection with the incident. He clarified that the recent kidnappings in the area are unrelated and there are no organized gangs behind them. The children who were reported missing have been safely returned to their parents. Commissioner Kalmeshwar also emphasized that it is important for everyone to respect the law and not take matters into their own hands.

The police registered a case and were investigating the matter.
