Asansol/West Bengal: In yet another tragic incident, at least three coal labourers died and as many as a dozen miners are feared trapped under debris after illegal coal mine land collapse of Eastern Coalfields Limited in Raniganj in West Burdwan district late last night.
Police suspect that the incident unfolds when coal was being illegally extracted from the Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) mine in Narayankudi area of Egra Gram Panchayat under Raniganj police station area.

The deceased were identified as Dinesh Ruidas (38), Samir Bauri (17) and Surajit Sen (21). Their bodies were retrieved by rescue personnel from the collapsed mine at Narayanpuri in Raniganj under Asansol-Durgapur Police Commissionerate area here today.
At least a dozen people are feared stuck inside. Though BJP leader and Asansol South MLA Agnimitra Paul claimed about 50 people are trapped inside, former Asansol MP and state minister Bansa Gopal Chowdhury said that more than five people are still trapped inside.
He said, this is a legal mine but the incident happened on Wednesday afternoon when coal was being extracted illegally. Three people have died and several others are feared trapped. The deceased and those believed trapped are all said to be illegal coal miners.
Further investigation is being done in the matter and rescue work is also going on.
