New Delhi: Three Indian Army Chinar Corps jawans died on Wednesday after falling into a deep gorge while on patrol in a forward region close to the LoC in the Machhal sector in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
The tragic incident occurred around 6.30 pm last evening. For the past few days, there has been significant snowfall in the area where the tragedy took place. More information on the incident is yet to come.
The mortal remains of all three army personnel have been retrieved.

At Machhal sector in Kupwara, a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) and two other Army personnel were engaged in routine operations when their vehicle slipped off a snow-covered track and they were flung into the gorge, according to the Army. The soldiers’ bodies have been recovered.
