Three more bridges collapsed in Bihar today: PIL filed in Supreme Court, demand for Investigation

Three More Bridges Collapsed in Bihar: The process of collapse of bridges in Bihar is not stopping. Incidents of bridge collapse have come to light at three places simultaneously in Maharajganj block of Siwan district of the state on Thursday. In which two bridges of Gandaki river collapsed in Deoria Panchayat, while a bridge collapsed on Chhadi in Sikandarpur village of the same block. At the same time, the case of bridge collapse has now reached the Supreme Court.

In fact, a petition has been filed in the Supreme Court directing the Bihar government to conduct the highest level structural audit of all existing and under construction bridges in the state and demolish or reconstruct the weak structures on the basis of feasibility in view of the spate of bridge collapses in the state. A demand has been made to issue it. Petitioner and lawyer Brajesh Singh on Wednesday urged the Supreme Court to issue directions to the Bihar government to conduct an audit.

This is the ninth such incident of bridge collapse in Bihar in the last 15 days. Yesterday also a similar incident took place in Saran district. Here today two bridges had collapsed in a single day. Both the bridges were built on the Gandaki River. Due to the collapse of both the bridges, traffic between many villages has come to a standstill.
