Three suspected PFI members detained by NIA-state police joint team in Bihar

Patna: A joint team of National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Bihar Police on Saturday morning detained three suspected members of the banned Popular Front of India (PFI) organization from Chakia subdivision area of East Champaran district. A senior police officer gave this information.

Additional Director General of Police (Headquarters) JS Gangwar told reporters, “The NIA team with the help of Bihar Police arrested three suspected PFI members. He has been taken into custody for joint questioning by the state police and central agencies. More arrests in this regard cannot be ruled out.”

In September last year, the Ministry of Home Affairs had banned the PFI and its affiliated organizations for five years on charges of having links with terrorist groups and indulging in subversive activities.

NIA has arrested around 350 people associated with PFI from different parts of the country last year.
