New Delhi: A major action has been taken against Ajit Kumar, Jail Superintendent of Tihar Jail No-7, in the case of giving VIP treatment to the jailed Delhi government minister Satyendar Jain. In fact, Ajit Kumar, the superintendent of jail number 7 of Tihar Jail, is accused of giving VIP facilities to Satyendra Jain. According to the jail department, prima facie he has been found to be committing irregularities. Let us tell you that last week BJP MP Parvesh Verma had demanded transfer of Satyendra Jain from Tihar Jail, alleging that he was getting VIP treatment. Jain has been in jail since his arrest in May on charges of money laundering.

He has prima facie been found to have committed irregularities that warrant inquiry,” Delhi government’s prison department said. The development comes after imprisoned conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar accused the Superintendent of jail number 7, where Jain is imprisoned, of extending improper favours.

In a letter to the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Sukesh Chandrasekhar stated, “I know Satyendra Jain since 2015… have contributed more than 50 crores to AAP.” He claimed the money was paid in exchange for a Rajya Sabha seat. The Enforcement Directorate, which is investigating the money laundering case in which Mr Jain was arrested, had in court alleged special treatment to the AAP leader.

“Unknown people were giving Jain massages and foot massages after curfew. He received special food,” stated S V Raju, Additional Solicitor General (ASG) representing the ED. The ASG shared CCTV images with the court and alleged that most of the time Mr Jain was either in hospital or in jail, enjoying various facilities. The 58-year-old Delhi minister was arrested on May 30.

Earlier this month, Director General (Prisons) Sandeep Goel was transferred from the Tihar Jail, days after incarcerated conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar alleged extortion of Rs 10 crore for protection in prison by Goel and Jain.

The allegations were dismissed by the Aam Aadmi Party as absurd and without foundation. Sukesh Chandrasekhar has been in jail since 2017 over charges of extorting money from high-profile personalities, including industrialists and celebrities. Delhi Chief Minister and AAP boss Arvind Kejriwal earlier this month claimed that Sukesh would join the BJP.
