TN accident: Speeding SUV rolls multiple time after hitting with divider near Madurai; 5 Dead

Madurai/Tamil Nadu: Five people died on spot when their SUV overturned after hitting the divider on the national highway in Tamil Nadu. Four of the dead are from one family. An SUV rolled several times after it hit a divider on a highway in Tamil Nadu.

The Madurai Police has released the footage of the accident that took place on the Virudhanagar-Madurai Highway. It is clear in the video that the white SUV, which came out of control in the left lane at excessive speed, swerved to the left side, hit the rear of the slow moving two-wheeler and hit the concrete divider and overturned.

As per reports, the incident happened when a car, driven by a man recognised as Mani from Villapuram, was en route to Madurai with his wife Nagajothi, their 8-year-old daughter, and his parents Kanagavel and Krishnaveni.

The video of the incident shows that the white-coloured car first hit the divider and then crashed into a two-wheeler driven by 53-year-old G Pandi from Karuvelampatti. It then overturned onto the service road on the other side of the highway.

The impact of the speed of the overturned SUV, which was thrown into the air, caused clouds of dust to obscure the view. Finally, the car came to a stop in the service lane of the four-lane road.

The footage also shows a man on a parked motorcycle narrowly missed by the metal debris of the SUV.

The four members of the same family killed in the accident were from Madurai’s Villapuram, sources reported quoting Madurai senior police officer Arvind.
