The Congress will reportedly contest the bypoll for the Kanyakumari Lok Sabha seat.

The agreement was formally signed by DMK president M K Stalin and Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president K S Alagiri at Anna Arivalayam on Sunday morning. AICC general secretary in-charge Dinesh Gundu Rao, Congress legislature party leader K R Ramasamy and DMK women’s wing secretary Kanimozhi were also present.

“This election is more about the need to strengthening the secular plank more than the number of seats. To prevent the spread of the BJP, which is more dangerous than the corona virus, all secular parties had to join hands with the single aim of defeating the BJP and its allies, ” Alagiri told reporters after signing the deal.

The first round of talks began on February 25 while the third informal discussions were held on Saturday evening.
