Magh Purnima 2023: Today i.e. on 5 February is Magh Purnima. This is the last day of bathing, charity, charity, chanting and penance of the entire Magh month. Holi Danda is planted on this full moon one month before Holi, hence it is also known as Holika Danda Roopni Purnima.

Significance of Magha Purnima

The charity done on the full moon of Magh month has special importance. Donating clothes, sesame, food, jaggery, money, blanket, cow etc. on this day brings happiness and prosperity. On this day, by bathing in the holy rivers and worshiping Lord Vishnu and Mother Lakshmi, all the problems go away and God’s grace remains. Along with this, Shradh is also performed by offering to the ancestors. If it is not possible to go to the holy rivers, then you can bathe by adding Ganga water to the water while meditating on Mother Ganga.

Magha Purnima worship method

1. On the day of Magha Purnima, Ganga bath should be taken in Brahma Muhurta.
2. If it is not possible to bath in the Ganges, then you can bath by mixing Ganges water in the water.
3. Chant “Om Namo Narayan:” mantra after bath.
4. Then offer Arghya to the Sun God and worship the Sun God.
5. After this start the worship and offer Charanamrit, paan, sesame, molly, roli, fruits, flowers, kumkum, panchgavya, betel nut, durva etc. as bhog.

Donate these things on the day of Magha Purnima

According to Padma Purana, Lord Vishnu is pleased by meditation and charity after bathing in holy rivers like Ganga-Yamuna on the day of Magha Purnima. There is great importance of donating on this day. Make sure to offer kheer to Mata Lakshmi in worship. After this, make sure to donate in the afternoon. It is considered good to donate cow, sesame, jaggery and blanket on this day. Apart from this, things like clothes, jaggery, ghee, cotton, laddoos, fruits, grains etc. can also be donated.
