The name of Malayalam movie ‘2018 Everyone is a Hero’ has been approved by the Film Federation of India as India’s official film entry. 2018, subtitled Everyone in a Hero, is a survival drama about the 2018 Kerala floods. The Film Federation of India (FFI) invited applications from Indian films to be considered as official entries for the 96th Academy Awards.
Directed by Jude Anthony Joseph, the film starred Tovino Thomas, Kunchacko Boban, Asif Ali, Vineeth Srinivasan, Narayan and Lal in important roles. 2018 was released in May this year and received an excellent response from critics. It was also a hit at the box office. It is the highest grossing Malayalam film of all time and one of the highest grossing films of Indian cinema this year.

According to sources, the Film Federation of India has announced on Wednesday that India’s official entry in the upcoming 96th Academy Awards is Tovino’s ‘2018 Everyone is a Hero’.
The film narrates stories of humanity overcoming adversity, set against the backdrop of the floods that devastated parts of Kerala in 2018. In the film, Tovino Thomas has played the role of a man who leaves the Indian Army by making a fake medical certificate and then saves himself during the flood. Asif Ali, Lal, Narayan, Kunchacko Boban and Aparna Balamurli have played important roles in this film.
The Oscars will be held on March 10 next year.
