Traffic halted on Highway after a bridge collapses following a landslide incident in Himachal | Watch

The bridge has now collapsed after a landslide in Himachal Pradesh's Chamba. Traffic came to a standstill on the Chamba-Bharmour National Highway after the bridge collapsed. Earlier on Friday evening, two vehicles were damaged after the Choli bridge collapsed in Himachal Pradesh's Chamba district.

Chamba: Traffic came to a standstill on the Chamba-Bharmour National Highway after a bridge collapsed following a landslide incident in Himachal’s Chamba district on Sunday morning. According to officials of the State Emergency Operation Center, the incident took place in Luna area of ​​Bharmour village on the outskirts of Chamba district. Chamba District Emergency Operation Center (DEOC) officials said in a statement, “The landslide occurred at Loona area of Bharmour village on the outskirts of Chamba district.”

The accident bridge has completely collapsed and NH-154A is completely broken from Chamba to Bharmour. DEOC officials said no casualties were reported. According to Chamba Deputy Commissioner DC Rana, it was a 20-metre-long bridge on National Highway 154-A that connects Bharmour sub-division tribal area with Chamba. Rana said road connectivity to the entire area has been cut off after the incident.

“An incident of bridge collapse occurred at Choli Bridge near Holi District Chamba at around 7.30 pm. In this incident, the bridge collapsed completely, and due to this two vehicles – a car and a tipper truck fallen down,” Chamba District emergency operation centre (DEOC) officials said, as quoted by the sources.

“Tehsildar and SHO have rushed to the spot,” they said. The officials informed us that no causalities have been reported yet and the search operation is underway.

In this incident, the bridge completely collapsed and due to this two vehicles – a car and a tipper truck fell down. Bailey bridge at Choli on Chamba-Holi road is broken due to heavy vehicles passing over its capacity. The load capacity of the bridge is said to be about 20 tonnes, but vehicles with a load capacity of up to 35 tonnes were passing on it.
