Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh: In a devastating incident on a bustling one-way road bridge in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, a young motorcyclist lost his life when his bike collided with an e-rickshaw executing a sudden U-turn. The CCTV footage of the accident captured the e-rickshaw driver hastily fleeing the scene after witnessing the biker’s fall onto the roadway.

The victim, identified as Akash Singh, aged 21, was rushed to the hospital by fellow commuters who witnessed the collision. Despite their efforts, Akash succumbed to his injuries during transit, as confirmed by the hospital authorities.

Akash, employed at a private company, was en route to his office duties when the tragic incident occurred on Saturday. Prompted by the grievous loss, a police case has been registered against the e-rickshaw driver, following a complaint lodged by Akash Singh’s father, Ashwani Singh.

The incident has reignited concerns among commuters regarding the erratic behavior of e-rickshaws on the roads, particularly when they venture beyond their designated operating zones. Many have lamented the frequent disregard for traffic regulations by e-rickshaw drivers, describing them as confrontational and prone to flouting rules.

While acknowledging the environmental benefits of e-rickshaws, commuters emphasize the urgent need for stricter enforcement of traffic laws to rein in their reckless behavior. The incident serves as a somber reminder of the potential dangers posed by unruly driving practices .
