In a distressing turn of events, two students, both undergoing class 10 and 12 board examinations in Odisha, have reportedly died by suicide in separate incidents, according to police statements on Friday.

The first incident occurred in Suryanagar, Baidyanathpur area of Ganjam district, where the lifeless body of a Class 12 science student was discovered inside his house on Friday morning. Family members shared that the student appeared normal after returning from the examination hall, had dinner, and later locked himself in his room. Concerns arose when he did not open the door the next morning, leading the family to discover the tragic situation.

In another heartbreaking incident in Bhadrak district, a class 10 student was found dead by suicide at Jahangir Sasan village on the same morning. The student, residing at his maternal aunt’s house, was set to write his English paper in the ongoing Matriculation examination later that day. Unfortunately, his lifeless body was discovered hours before the commencement of the English paper.
These incidents shed light on the mental health challenges students may face during exam periods, emphasizing the importance of mental health awareness and support systems.
