In a heartbreaking turn of events, 30-year-old Uttar Pradesh police constable Sachin Rathi, who was eagerly anticipating his wedding in February, tragically lost his life after sustaining gunshot injuries during an hour-long encounter with a notorious criminal.
Rathi was part of a four-member police team attempting to apprehend Ashok Yadav, a murder accused with a criminal record of at least 20 cases, at his residence in Kannauj. The operation took an unexpected turn when Yadav and his son Abhay opened fire on the police party in an attempt to escape, resulting in Rathi being shot in the thigh.
Facing intense gunfire, the police called for reinforcements, leading to the involvement of officers from multiple police stations. After an hour-long encounter, the Yadav father-son duo was eventually taken into custody, having suffered injuries to their legs during the confrontation.

Tragically, he passed away at midnight, leaving his family devastated. Originally from Muzaffarnagar, Rathi had joined the police force in 2019 and was eagerly anticipating his wedding to a fellow woman constable on February 5.
The family, originally preparing for joyous wedding celebrations, is now plunged into mourning. Police officials announced that the young constable would be honored with a gun salute at the police lines as a mark of respect for his sacrifice in the line of duty.
