Lakhimpur Kheri: According to the report, a transgender teacher in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh, was expelled from a school due to her sexual orientation. The incident has been noted by the National Commission for Women (NCW), which wrote to the state’s chief secretary. Rekha Sharma (NCW), requesting an impartial investigation to determine the truth of the matter.
She also urged the authorities to punish the school officials severely if the claims are proven to be true. Sharma requested that the Commission be notified of the decision in the case within seven days.
A copy of the letter was also delivered to the Lakhimpur Kheri District Magistrate.
However, the school administration has denied the claims that the teacher’s expulsion took place due to her sexual identity.
The Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019, was passed to remove the discrimination against transgender persons and provide them with equal opportunities in all walks of life.
