Hyderabad: According to the information given by the seismic laboratory of National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI), parts of Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills experienced ultra-micro tremors on Wednesday between 8.30 a.m. and 8.35 a.m..
While there was no panic among the residents in Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills, the seismic stations at NGRI recorded the ultra-micro tremors between 0.3 and 0.5 on the Richter Scale.
The NGRI seismologists urged the public not to panic because on many occasions, it is hard to even detect micro-tremors.
Seismologists said that Hyderabad has received copious amounts of rains during this monsoon season, leading to rise in ground water levels.
“When it rains heavily, water percolation imbalance in the pore pressure leads to such ultra micro-seismic events,” the seismologists at NGRI said.
