New Delhi: The Tripura Police seized 1.3 kg of heroin worth crores of rupees at Churaibari in North Tripura district and arrested three persons.
New Delhi: The Tripura Police seized 1.3 kg of heroin worth crores of rupees at Churaibari in North Tripura district and arrested three persons. Police said, “Law enforcement officials, in a carefully planned operation based on intelligence inputs from the Superintendent of Police, North District, have seized heroin worth Rs 10 crore and arrested three peddlers. The operation began on Monday at the naka point of Churaibari police station Three persons were arrested in Assam and a hidden cache of narcotics unearthed.”
Police said, “On Monday, a vehicle with license plate number MN 01 AK 3139 passed through police checking at naka point of Churaibari watch post, but later a thorough search was conducted at the same location. The search revealed a concealed compartment on the top of the vehicle But in which a total of 1 kg 300 grams of heroin was hidden inside 100 soap boxes.” The persons arrested in connection with the bust have been identified as Abdul Ali, Samar Krishna Das and Prasenjit Das.
The value of the seized narcotics is a staggering Rs 10 crore, underscoring the magnitude of the illegal drug trade which is being tackled by law enforcement agencies diligently. According to District Superintendent of Police, the operation was the result of careful planning following a tip-off regarding drug-trafficking activities.
The suspects were booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and produced in the district court on Monday.This initiative has led to a massive crackdown on drug related activities in various areas of the state.
