On Monday (6 March) in the meeting of the Legislature Party of the Bharatiya Janata Party, he was elected the leader of the Legislature Party. Saha’s name was proposed by Union Minister Pratima Bhowmik. Bhowmik’s name was also running in the Chief Minister’s race. This will be Manik Saha’s second consecutive term as CM. The BJP secured a clear majority by winning 32 seats in the 60-member assembly, while its ally, the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT), won one seat.

Voting for the state assembly elections was held on February 16 and the results were announced on Thursday (March 2).
