Elon Musk took a shot at Twitter’s board of directors on Tuesday, a day after the firm adopted a “poison pill” to stave off a takeover attempt. Musk wrote in response to a user’s post criticising the board, “Board compensation will be $0 if my offer wins, so that’s $3M/year saved right there.”

Musk owns 9.1% of Twitter and is the second-largest stakeholder in the social media firm. Tesla’s CEO had made an offer to acquire the firm for $43 billion earlier this week.

Twitter’s restrictions have been criticised by Elon Musk, a self-described “free speech absolutist.” On Thursday, he questioned his 80 million Twitter followers if “taking Twitter private for $54.20 should be up to shareholders, not the board” on the microblogging network.

Later, after Twitter chose a plan to sell shares at a discount to prevent shareholders from amassing a holding of more than 15%, the Tesla CEO also tweeted “Love Me Tender,” an Elvis Presley song.
